Hi! It’s me again, posting as I said I would. This week I found a very interesting post on a new political movement in Martinique and French Guiana. (http://globalvoicesonline.org/2009/02/05/martinique-the-last-masters-of-the-islands/). The blog post was posted by the blogger my teacher suggested to me last week, Fabienne Flessel (http://globalvoicesonline.org/author/fabienne-flessel/).
From this post I learned that in Guadeloupe there has been a protest against the French Government is going on for two weeks ( http://globalvoicesonline.org/2009/01/29/guadeloupe-we-are-experiencing-lyannaj-kont-pwofitasyon-the-first-social-movement-of-its-kind/). They are protesting about their standards and conditions of living, education, professional training, employment, trade union rights and freedoms, public services and civil servants, manufacturing and agriculture, development of the region and the facilites, culture, and that the government abuse them. (click here or here to learn more about how the government have been treating them). Shops have been closed down, gas stations refusing to service, people have stopped working. And now, Martinique and French Guiana (both governed by the French) are thinking about joining into this movement.
In my opinion, the movement is good; because if the government changes, the lives of the people will become better (the education and more). I agree with this type of protest because it does not involve any violence, just showing that they are unsatisfied. This is what I call a “Peace” protest, because they didn’t use any weapons. Though I hope the situation does not get any more violent.
During reading this blog post, I found myself clicking the link to read about what was actually going on in Guadeloupe. Because I did that, I instantly understood the story more because in the beginning when I just read the post about the movements in French Guiana and Martinique, I had no idea what they were actually protesting about. Therefore, in this week, I made a progress in understanding a news story and I found a story that matched my topic that I would be willing to follow on.
I will keep following this news so keep checking my blog for more updates on this story next week!

Hi Poojah!
I really like how you state both a summary of the article and blogger, and then how you express your own opinion. Your facts seem straight and very true! I agree that that kind of protest is okay, because the government probably does need to change a few things, like education, living standards, ect. I also like how you’re so honest with what you were thinking.
Great job!!
Theresa
Thanks Theresa!
I liked how your blog was casual and it was you. and didn’t just sound like another duplicate of the original blog so therefore it’s interesting to read- like it always is
I’m glad that you found a blogger who’s constantly blogging and appeals to you. I couldn’t find any, and when Ms. Ulster found me bloggers (2) one didn’t appeal to me but she posted often. The other one did but the blogger didn’t post since last year!! Oh well I’m fine now since she let us to blogging by topic as well.
Nice post!!!!! ^^
Your post is fantastic. I loved how you followed a link and learned more. I am going to quote you today. People are reading your blog in Guadeloupe!
